Under the direction of the Principal and the Athletic Director, assumes overall responsibility for the entire program. Duties include, but are not limited to: tryouts and selection of squads, conditioning, supervision of practices and games. Works with the principal and athletic director on staffing of assistant positions.
Some background in coaching is desirable. Ability to achieve the confidence and respect of student-athletes, make decision and judgments. One or more years of paid or volunteer experience providing leadership in organized youth activities/sports. Knowledge of care and prevention of athletic injuries, coaching techniques, rules and regulations of activities, and adolescent psychology. Must have the ability to bend, stoop, grasp, and reach. May be required to stand for prolonged periods on hard surfaces and work outdoors in weather of varying temperatures and conditions. Possession of a valid California driver's license, First Aid and CPR certification, and Completion Certificate for Concussion in Sports. |
